Shipwreck Detective’s deep dive into the Moog Subsequent 37 at Piqued 5Y //

At the Piqued 5Y show, Shipwreck Detective performed with a setup centered around a Moog Sub-37, which he referred to as his favorite synthesizer. His performance was a tribute to the instrument, emphasizing its flexibility and the depth of sound he can achieve. The Moog ran through a straightforward pedal board, including a Singular Sound Aeros loop pedal, Old Blood Noise Endeavors reverse pedal, and Empress Reverb.

The performance’s atmosphere was largely shaped by the Chase Bliss Mood pedal and the Generation Loss pedal, which added noise and lo-fi textures. The setup also included a Soma Cosmos looper for subtle delay effects and Elektron's Analog Heat for saturation and final sound processing. Shipwreck Detective described Analog Heat as the "secret weapon" that gave his set its distinct tape-like quality.

He concluded by mentioning upcoming shows, including live scoring a sci-fi reading event in San Francisco and a headline performance in Oakland’s gothic church venue, Spire. He highlighted the reverb in the venue, joking that he intends to "drown the whole place" in it.
