Kai Van Dongen was born in South Africa and is now based in London. A relatively new name in the electronic music scene, he began producing and DJing during the COVID era. His first releases arrived near the end of 2020, landing on labels like 1Ø PILLS MATE and Cyberdome—both affiliated with Lobster Theremin—as well as Truncate, Ei8ht, and Second State.

Van Dongen’s sound moves beyond standard genre lines, offering a form of techno that carries an ambient edge. His music is both raw and atmospheric, marked by modulated synths and deep, rumbling bass. Through his own imprint, KVD, he delivers unfiltered tracks directly to his Bandcamp followers, maintaining a close connection with fans.
