Snakes of Russia is the solo project of Los Angeles-based musician and producer Joseph, who spent years playing drums in bands and producing records for other artists before channeling both worlds into something entirely his own. Drawing equally from the aggression of metal and the texture of dark electronics, he builds music that doesn't fit neatly into either camp, using a combination of hardware synths, soft synths, and Ableton to craft records that feel physical and cinematic at once. His studio anchors around the Moog Model D, Roland SH-101, and Juno 106, layered against Serum and Zebra, and his live set extends that into modular synthesis and live drum pads. With a new LP on the way and cover art by illustrator Morgan Sorenson that inspired the record itself, Snakes of Russia continues to evolve on his own timeline and his own terms.
