Yan Cook
Yan Cook is a dynamic Ukrainian electronic music artist and techno producer hailing from Kyiv (b. 1991). Introduced to the underground scene at just sixteen through late-night DJ mixes on local radio, he quickly fell hard for techno and taught himself production—releasing his debut EP on Beatport within a year.
After experimenting under aliases like “Eigenes Rezept,” Yan embraced his solo path in 2011, refining a signature sound defined by “powerful, sub‑shaking and room‑filling Techno madness” (Delsin) and “aggressive vibes with sinister tones, growling basslines, and propulsive rhythms” (Soma). He’s released multiple EPs and albums on labels like Delsin, Planet Rhythm, ARTS, and his own Cooked, including 2024’s Hydraulic EP and 2025’s Eyes Adjust to the Dark.
In addition to his high-energy club-ready techno, Yan produces under the alias Rhomb, exploring more melodic electronica. Off-stage, he pursues abstract visual art using macro photography and digital tools, drawing inspiration from his life experiences and creative surroundings.
Yan's studio approach is deliberately streamlined—opting for a few key instruments per project to maintain focus and drive. He embraces creativity like “riding a wave,” avoiding forcing ideas when inspiration runs dry.
Yan Cook stands as a formidable force in contemporary techno: a self-taught visionary whose immersive, bass-heavy productions and cross-disciplinary artistry continue to influence and energize global audiences.
