DSKO is Danny Kim, a multimedia artist and performer based in the South Bay. Classically trained as a cellist, he works professionally as a sound designer, with credits on more than 50 feature films, and directs and edits under his own banner, Distortion Productions.

His interest in synthesizers began as a teenager, through industrial and synth wave records, Front 242, Kraftwerk, Skinny Puppy, Depeche Mode. He started DJing at a college radio station as a film student in Las Vegas, later playing after-hours clubs in Hollywood, DTLA and Koreatown, and in 2008 directed the video for ADULT.'s "Inside". He resists a fixed genre, naming electro, Italo disco, synth wave, techno, dub, electroclash, trip hop and ambient among the things he draws on.In 2016 he founded Binary Society, a monthly live synthesizer series in downtown San Jose that ran shows at the SubZERO Festival and the Tech Museum of Innovation, bringing in performers including Richard Devine, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe and Lightbath alongside local artists. He is now editor-in-chief of Open Source, a print journal covering synthesizer culture and history, visual art and the creative process.
