Santiago Salazar, also known as DJ S2, emerged from the early ’90s Los Angeles underground, inspired by the city’s queer house scene before moving to Detroit. There, he became a key member of Underground Resistance’s Los Hermanos, helping to define the Latin-influenced wave of Detroit techno sparked by DJ Rolando. As S2, Seldom Seen, or under his own name, Salazar has released on UR, Planet E, Macro, Seventh Sign, Finale Sessions, and through his own ICAN Productions and Historia y Violencia (with Silent Servant). His 2015 solo album Chicanismo stands as a landmark in affirming Latino heritage within American techno.
