Shanda Nunez aka Trovarsi is a founding member and event curator of the Southern California Synth Society, where she helps shape the organization’s creative direction through community programming, partnerships, and live events. Working closely with venues, artists, and industry supporters, she cultivates relationships that expand educational opportunities, secure community support, and create accessible spaces for synthesizer culture to thrive. Through workshops, performances, DIY builds, and collaborative events, SoCal Synth Society fosters connection, creativity, and hands-on learning for both emerging and established electronic artists.

An LA-based composer, producer, global live electronic artist, educator, and streaming host, Trovarsi has spent the past decade releasing music on notable electronic labels while blending modular and analog synthesizers, drum machines, and hybrid performance techniques into a sound rooted in Afrofuturism and her musical origins.

She also curates and hosts SIGNAL on Analog – Insomniac Radio, a monthly show spotlighting innovative live performance artists and composers. As CEO of Piqued.fm, she leads a cutting-edge online radio platform and media hub dedicated to curated independent music, artist discovery, and underground culture.

Dr. Brandy Nunez, aka SpaceRacer, is a founding member of the Southern California Synth Society and currently serves as treasurer, social media manager and helps with event coordination and logistics.

Acutely aware of large gaps in female representation throughout the synth community, she is passionate about giving local female and non-binary artists a platform to explore synthesis and modulation, learn DIY techniques and practice live performance in a supportive environment. She and Trovarsi co-founded the Frequency Shift series, a worldwide call in for female/non-binary artists to showcase their live music.

Dr. Nunez is a SoCal based veterinarian and president of Mobile Veterinary Services, Inc. She is an analog astronaut/scientific researcher, a mother of two and a live electronic performance artist. A lover of all electronic music, in 2018 she became fascinated by modular synthesizers and building synths while participating in Moogfest’s engineering workshop.

Two of her future goals for the synth society are to host a series of DIY/building sessions for the community and to curate a Frequency Shift anniversary show, celebrating diverse female and non-binary musicians.

Abe Mora is a founding member of SoCal Synth Society and plays an integral role in shaping the collective’s identity and live experience. As one of the three original founders, Abe leads art direction and design for promotional and marketing materials while also serving as audio technician during live events and performances.

BbartokK is a core member of the Southern California Synth Society, serving as the lead audio technician for the organization’s live events and performances. He also leads DIY soldering workshops and technical education sessions, helping community members develop hands-on skills in electronics, module building, and hardware troubleshooting. His technical expertise and willingness to share knowledge make him an invaluable part of the SoCal Synth Society community.

As an artist, BbartokK explores the intersection of experimental electronics, modular synthesis, and immersive sound design. His work blends evolving textures, intricate sequencing, and hardware-driven performance techniques to create engaging sonic experiences that are both technical and expressive. With a deep appreciation for the craft behind electronic instruments, his creative practice reflects a balance of engineering precision and artistic exploration, continually pushing the boundaries of sound through curiosity, innovation, and experimentation.

Miguel Azevedo is a Lisbon-born, Los Angeles-based sound engineer, producer, and a core member of the SoCal Synth Society, where he bridges technical innovation and musicality. Backed by degrees in Sound Engineering (Lisbon) and Music Technology (Kingston University, London), Miguel’s deep expertise in signal flow, sound design, and electronic circuitry is vital to our technical workshops and public demonstrations.

Currently serving as the Supervising Sound Engineer for Insomniac Events, Miguel brings top-tier professional standards to our live events and recorded content. He seamlessly navigates complex synthesis environments—ranging from vintage analog setups to modern digital platforms—ensuring pristine audio output.

As an artist, his underground techno project Insical has garnered global acclaim, with key support from Charlotte de Witte. At the Society, Miguel leverages this industry experience to mentor members, helping them translate complex hardware gear talk into finished, professional-grade compositions.

J is a core member of the SoCal Synth Society team, helping keep events running smoothly both behind the scenes and on the floor. From setup and teardown to staffing community tables, welcoming new members, coordinating performers, and assisting wherever needed, J is always ready to lend a hand. Her dedication and positive energy help create the welcoming community atmosphere that SoCal Synth Society is known for.

Performing under the name Zendeer, J is a Los Angeles-based composer, producer and live hardware electronic artist. Inspired by LA’s underground techno scene, Zendeer’s composition style is evolving from roots in ambient, house, and trip hop into an exploration of techno genres. J performs on groove boxes, synths, sequencers, modular synth, and other electronic hardware.
