20CC showed the TXX-1 Spectron, a dual-oscillator eurorack module built from samples of tape-based keyboards, at Knobcon, which opened on 11 September. The company says the module is in the final stages of development.

Spectron holds more than 20 "tapes" recorded from vintage instruments, and 20CC names the Mellotron, Chamberlin and Optigan as its reference points. More tapes are planned after release. "The engine organizes many samples to create the illusion of a continuous voltage-controlled oscillator," the company says.

Each of the two voices has its own volt-per-octave and gate input, and tape selection is under CV control through Scan inputs or a Tape Trigger function. There is an FM section, a sync function that 20CC says produces deep flanging and time-stretching effects, an ASR envelope for amplitude, an LFO with selectable waveshapes and a modulation matrix. A four-voice pseudo-polyphonic mode lets note releases overlap.

The module is 16 HP wide and 22 mm deep, and draws around 150 mA from the +12V rail.

Availability

20CC has not announced a price. The company says pre-orders will open soon, with shipping projected for November or December 2026. Synth Anatomy reports that 20CC founder Andrew is considering opening the module up so that users can load their own samples.
