Dirtywave releases the M8 Music Tracker for iOS

Dirtywave has released M8 Music Tracker, an iOS version of its M8 hardware tracker, on the App Store for $29.99. Version 1.0 arrived on 9 September 2026.

More details and demos are in the M8 Tracker Discord meetup #34 below:

The app carries the hardware's instrument set. Dirtywave describes Wavsynth as a “chip synth inspired wavetable synth” and Macrosynth as “macro oscillators of over 40 unique synthesis engines”. FMSynth is four-operator FM, Hypersynth is a “six-note 13 oscillator swarm synth”, and there is a sampler that can record. A MIDI instrument drives external gear.

Sequencing follows the hardware too. There are eight independent monophonic tracks, with phrases and chains arranged separately on each one, plus instrument modulation tables, scales, grooves, step probability and effect commands. The app can render a finished song.

Price and requirements

M8 Music Tracker costs $29.99 and runs on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch with iOS 15.0 or later. The download is 235.5 MB. The current version is 1.0.2. Connectivity covers CoreMIDI, external keyboards and controllers, the Launchpad Pro MK3 and Inter-App Audio.

M8C remote display

Dirtywave has also published M8C Remote Display, a free iOS app that mirrors the screen of an M8 hardware unit onto a phone or tablet. It needs a Model:01 or Model:02 running firmware 6.0 or newer, and it does not route audio.

Via the App Store listing. Additional coverage at Create Digital Music, and the free client is on the App Store as well.
