Native Instruments adds a Euclidean sequencer to Maschine in version 3.7

Native Instruments released Maschine 3.7 on 23 September, a free update for anyone who has moved to Maschine 3.0. It adds three sequencing tools: a Euclidean sequencer, per-note probability and a random note generator.

The Euclidean sequencer spreads events across a set number of steps, with controls for step length, the number of events and rotation. A live mode applies changes while the loop is playing, so a pattern shifts without playback stopping.

Per-note probability gives every note a chance value, which Maschine re-rolls each time the loop comes round. A probability lock captures whichever pass the user decides to keep. The random note generator builds patterns from probability settings for percussive, melodic or chord parts, and includes a control for randomising velocity.

New Maschine 3.7 update and Expansions | Native Instruments

Version 3.7 is a desktop release for Mac and Windows. Support for the standalone Maschine+ hardware is still to come, and no date has been given for it.

It is the first substantial Maschine update since inMusic completed its acquisition of Native Instruments in May, adding the company to a portfolio that also holds Moog, Akai, Alesis and Rane. “Maschine is alive and evolving, and this update packs in a host of fresh features,” Native Instruments says.

Three new expansions

  • Thirty, $30, a 30th-anniversary pack that resamples material from Native Instruments’ own catalogue, including Reaktor and Massive X: 30 kits, 89 loops, 291 samples and 85 one-shots.
  • Paris Heat, $49, a French house collection with 40 kits, 108 loops and 314 samples.
  • Rage Circuit, $49, a hypertrap pack made with the producer Snipe Young: 41 kits, 291 loops and 375 samples.
