SynthDad rebuilds a live techno rig around the Forge TME Vhikk X

SynthDad posted a video on 23 September walking through a live techno modular case rebuilt around a single module, Forge TME’s Vhikk X. It is titled “How I Played Live Techno on a Modular Synth — Built Around the Vhikk X”.

How I Played Live Techno on a Modular Synth — Built Around the Vhikk X

The video goes through every module in the gigging case and what each one does in the set, including where things sit and why. Most of it is played rather than described, with the explanation running over a working patch.

The Vhikk X is the newest module in the case. SynthDad says it is usually demonstrated as a drone voice, a role the set pushes it out of, and the video covers what works, what does not, and whether the module earns the 24HP it takes up in a case that has to be carried to a gig.

Forge TME describes the Vhikk X as “a multi-algorithm sound source and processor capable of traversing sonic planes complex, raw, dense, electric, erratic, dynamic”. It holds 36 algorithms across four banks, with stereo 24-bit input and output, a VCA input and firmware updates over USB-C.
