The Bob Moog Foundation has announced From the Source: Live Conversations with Iconic Music Innovators, a ticketed livestream series that opens on Saturday 24 October with E-mu Systems co-founder Dave Rossum.
The session runs at 5 p.m. ET on a private Zoom call capped at 100 participants. Marcus Ryle, co-founder of Fast Forward Designs and Line 6, moderates. The foundation describes the format as an ask-me-anything, with audience questions driving the conversation.
Tickets are $20 to attend. $40 buys a question submitted in advance and prioritised for the discussion.
Rossum now runs Rossum Electro-Music. The foundation credits him with inventing the polyphonic synthesizer keyboard and with the first use of a microprocessor in a music product. "Dave is a true living legend of the synthesizer world who has been a key part of the origin story of many major synthesizer companies, including Sequential, Oberheim, and of course, Emu," Ryle said.
The series is part of the foundation's 20th anniversary. The foundation says ticket proceeds go to its educational work, which includes Dr. Bob's SoundSchool, its archives and the Moogseum in Asheville, North Carolina.
