San Diego-based sound designer and modular synthesist Johno Wells has released his latest album, "And if your glass heart should crack," featuring nine tracks culled from over two and a half years of creative exploration across 140 project folders.

The album spans ambient, IDM textures, and experimental soundscapes, all crafted using an eclectic mix of Eurorack and Serge modular synthesizers, SOMA hardware (Terra and Pulsar), field recordings, and various software. The collection represents Wells' most cohesive artistic statement to date, with tracks ranging from nearly seven-minute ambient journeys to concise three-minute experimental pieces.

A limited edition physical release of 100 hand-numbered CDs features unique DIY artwork by Wells himself, with each unit sporting individual ink-blot designs on brown cardboard sleeves. The album is also available digitally with high-quality 24-bit/48kHz downloads on a pay-what-you-want basis.

In his liner notes, Wells acknowledges the influence of synthesizer pioneers Serge Tcherepnin and Vlad Kreimer (SOMA), stating their "unique inventions have changed my life as an artist."

Wells, known for creating the Modular World global synthesizer event and the Dotwave podcast, continues to push boundaries in the modular synthesis community from his Southern California base.

The album is available now through Bandcamp, with physical copies shipping within four days.
