Knobula has released the Monumatic, a Eurorack module combining a fully polyphonic 8-voice synthesizer and a monophonic synthesizer within a compact 12HP format. Available now for $449, the Monumatic maintains Knobula's focus on straightforward functionality and versatility.
Oscillator models and sound design
Monumatic includes 16 oscillator modes, each using virtual analog algorithms without samples. Available oscillator modes cover classic synthesizer sounds like Roland super-saw, Polymoog vox humana, Casio phase distortion, and Solina string synth. Additionally, unique textures such as percussive drawbar organs, “noisy cassette” strings, pulse width modulation, asymmetric sync saw, and sync square waves are included. The Detune control adjusts the timbre for each mode.
Filter and sound shaping
The module features six filter types: Low Pass Butterworth (24db/oct), Low Pass State Variable Filter (12db/oct), vowel filter, dual peak notch filter, phase shifter, and high pass/SVF combination. Each filter can be overdriven using the drive control, allowing for extended tonal possibilities.
Polyphonic and monophonic flexibility
Monumatic can quickly switch between polyphonic and monophonic modes. In polyphonic mode, the module uses micro-tuning technology that can simulate vintage analog oscillator drift or apply adaptive just intonation for improved harmonic tuning. Users can control these tuning features via CV input.
Eurorack and MIDI integration
Monumatic integrates with modular setups via comprehensive CV control, including two assignable CV inputs, and specific CV inputs for Gate, V/Oct, and filter cutoff. It also supports MIDI CC and MPE. Customizable chord presets and CV/Gate-controlled arpeggiation add flexibility for live performance and sequencing.
