Since setting sail in 1993, Kompakt has charted a singular course through electronic music, defining the sound of Cologne and pushing boundaries across genres. Now, with 500 releases under its belt, the label commemorates the journey with a special edition 5LP vinyl box set, featuring 50 remastered tracks spanning its vast archive.

A collector’s dream: 5LP, book, and bonus disc

Pressed onto brightly colored vinyl and accompanied by a 144-page hardcover book, the release includes Kompakt classics, rare cuts from the early Cologne era, and a picture disc with 50 locked grooves by the label's founders. A ‘Loop Opera’ at 133 ⅓ BPM celebrates the art of minimalism and loop-based composition.

Kompakt 500 art exhibition opens in Cologne

Coinciding with the release, the Kölnischer Kunstverein will host a massive Kompakt 500 art exhibition beginning May 23, 2025. Featuring three floors of visual and audio installations, the show explores the label’s deep ties to graphic design and contemporary art, culminating in a live showcase from the Kompakt Allstars.
