Noise Engineering has released 16 new firmwares for Legio, its 6HP Eurorack oscillator and effects module, taking the platform to 23 official firmwares. The company announced the batch, which it calls Legioverload, on 10 September 2026. All of them are free to existing Legio owners.

“We may have overdone it,” Noise Engineering wrote in the announcement. “Legio already had 7 firmwares. So naturally, we made 16 more.”

Drum voices, oscillators and effects

Seven of the new firmwares are drum voices. Kick Legio, Snare Legio, Tom Legio and Cymbal Legio each cover one part of a kit, Bos Legio is a cowbell, Marimba Legio is a percussive physical-modeling voice, and Klang Legio is listed by the company as a “crazy drum”.

Six are oscillators. AT Legio is an LFSR lo-fi oscillator, Gator Legio a supersaw phase-modulation oscillator, Ovis Legio a granular Shepard tone processor, Plus Legio a full additive voice, Reso Legio a Karplus-Strong voice with a resonator, and Unda Legio a full phase-modulation voice.

The remaining three are effects. Bitcrush Legio is a pitch-tracking downsampler, Chasma Legio a mid/side dynamics processor, and Megafold Legio combines a wavefolder, a waveshaper and a chorus.

Price and availability

Legio is 6HP with stereo inputs and stereo outputs and sells for $310. Swapping firmware is free and takes about a minute over USB. Noise Engineering says the process needs a WebUSB browser, and lists Chrome, Edge and Opera on desktop or Android.

The platform also runs firmware written by others. Noise Engineering points developers to libDaisy and publishes printable panel overlays and DXF files for alternative builds.
