Oddment Audio ports the ODD-1 granular engine to a plugin, ODD-1V

Oddment Audio released ODD-1V on 16 September, a plugin version of the granular engine in its ODD-1 desktop instrument. The company describes it as a 1:1 port that runs the same audio code as the hardware.

The plugin carries two independent layers with four playheads each, and every playhead has its own speed, pitch and time-path setting. A synth mode re-pitches material across eight voices from a keyboard. Every parameter can be modulated, with ADSR envelopes, LFOs offering rate, bias, warp and depth, and assignable macros. About 2GB of sample content from the ODD-1 library is included.

ODD-1V runs as a standalone application and as a VST3 or Audio Unit plugin, on macOS with Apple Silicon and Intel builds and on Windows. Patches move in both directions between the plugin and the hardware.

The current build is early access. Oddment says the interface is not final and the factory preset library is still short, with more presets expected by the end of the year. Sample capture inside the plugin and the loops mode, which records and syncs loops, are due in November.

Price and availability

Early access costs $149 until 15 October, after which the price becomes $199, on a perpetual licence. Owners of the ODD-1 hardware get the plugin at no cost, and Oddment says the plugin purchase can be credited against buying the hardware later.
