Piqued.fm’s new look, Knobula's Monumatic, K.O. II upgrades, and a DIY 909 kick with FM

In this Patch Dispatch, we kick things off with a big reveal, our freshly rebuilt Piqued.fm site. It’s now media‑centric from top to bottom, with a new media player, dedicated pages for mixes, artist bios, events, and a proper magazine layout for news and features.

From there we dive into new gear. Korey walks through Knobula’s 12 HP Monumatic, an eight‑voice polysynth boasting 16 oscillator modes, six distinct filters, and newly added MPE‑friendly MIDI. Richard follows up with Teenage Engineering’s K.O. II firmware refresh, hands‑free sampling, side‑chain, a smarter sequencer, and other quality‑of‑life tweaks that finally make the little sampler feel stage‑ready again. We cap the hardware chat by geeking out over Moritz Klein and Erica Synths’ DIY 909‑ish FM kick module.

Our listening stack this week spans Carolyn Fok’s industrial‑leaning Calamity of Beauty, Warrington‑Runcorn New Town Development Plan’s synth‑soaked Overspill Estates, and RIOW ARAI’s SH‑101, three very different records that each stole our focus in the studio.

We wrap by inviting everyone to Future Perfect at Noc Noc in San Francisco on April 27. The night features sets from All That’s Gone, RMNA, Darkest Sunray, Franck Martin, DJ Whiskey Devil, and KZL, inside one of the most delightfully eccentric cave‑bar spaces in the city. Doors at 6:00 p.m., come hang, say hi, and soak up the modular madness.
