Wavea has released version 2.0 of Flite, its sampler and synthesizer plugin, as a free update for existing owners. It arrived on 9 September and adds MPE and full MIDI CC assignment, patch import from other sampler formats, new filter modes and a rebuilt sequencer.
Flite pairs multi-sampling with FM, granular and wavetable oscillators, dual filters, four envelopes, three LFOs and eight macros. Version 2.0 changes most of those sections.
New oscillators, filters and sequencer
- Patch import for SFZ, SF2 and Decent Sampler, plus WAV, AIFF, FLAC and MP3 loading with multi-sample and velocity-layer support.
- Expanded virtual analog oscillators with morphing and stacked waveforms, musical and exponential FM configurations, and more wavetable content.
- Comb, formant and resonator filter modes.
- LFO draw, sample and hold, smooth random and evolving modes, and a bidirectional macro and modulator assignment workflow.
- Two note sequencers with voice routing and two modulation sequencers, with forward, backward, ping-pong, random shuffle, brownian and outside-in playback, per-step probability, ratcheting, velocity and octave, Euclidean tools and MIDI file export.
- Distortion, ring modulator, phaser, tape echo, panner and granular delay effects.
Price and availability
Flite runs as a VST3 or AU plugin on macOS 10.13 and later, native on Apple Silicon and Intel, and on Windows 10 and later. Wavea sells the full version, Flite Create, at $69.99, alongside a free Flite Player tier that cannot save presets or import samples and locks Create mode after 20 minutes. Synth Anatomy reports the 2.0 update is free for users of version 1.4.
