Los Angeles based electronic producer Akiva recently unleashed his latest record, “CHROME ONE” - a two track release that channels a brooding force inside an intoxicating groove. Built for the peak of the night, Akiva uncovers shapeshifting tension with his healthy balance of suspenseful dynamics and dramatic static. Each track unfolds like a kaleidoscopic dream that irrevocably fills the mind with imagination and washes the dancefloor with color.
"CHROME ONE is dark by nature, but soothing to listen to. Akiva designs a polychromatic world that moves with a solid pulse, synthetic synergy, and air flowing life. With moments that breed sincere equanimity, the music is meditative, allowing your mind to leave the body.
Akiva built this record with intention, fast decisions, and pure instinct. His guidelines created perimeters that allowed him to finish his work quickly. Akiva said, “My goal, at that time, was to write music a bit outside of genre boxes and focus more on "accessible" dance tracks, if you will. Both these records were written, composed and produced over only 3-4 sessions, which for me is very quick. Both were "aha" flow-state moments, where the music just happened and I was - almost - a conduit for it, as woo-woo as that sounds.”
The first self-titled track constructs an electrifying world that breeds ominous mystery. Its unsettling, yet mesmerizing aura manifested with unbridled spontaneity as he collaborated with Phoenix based producer THMS. What started with “good bones” created by THMS, quickly evolved into an interpersonal voice between the two. Akiva reflects, “sometime last summer he sent me stems for a record he was trying to finish called "Chroma ". It had a deeper, progressive vibe, and I thought it had good bones that could be filled out with some more melodic/melodic techno-esque elements. I wrote some parts over the next few days and sent it back to him, along with some vocals I had laying around.
The second track, “The One Only,” bridges the energy from one room to another, while keeping your feet glued to the dancefloor. Capturing the soul of melodic house, the world is created around the transformative, hypnotic synthline. With elements of disco, he blends melodic house with a splash 80s darkwave to bring out the dark, ethereal overtones.
