ALM Busy Circuits has released With Mixer, an expander that adds an eight-channel stereo mixer to its Stem Ripper multitrack recorder. The company announced it on 11 September, about a year after the Stem Ripper itself.
With Mixer gives each of the Stem Ripper's eight inputs level and gain control, stereo panning, mute and solo, and two stereo aux sends. A colour display shows metering for the eight channels and the stereo mix output. Mix parameters can also be driven from three assignable CV inputs, expandable to seven with ALM's AXON expander, or from a MIDI controller plugged into the module's powered USB host port. Up to eight complete mixes can be saved and recalled.
The stereo mix appears at the module's output jacks and is recorded to the Stem Ripper's SD card at the same time as the eight individual, unprocessed stems. ALM describes the pair as "a modern multitrack stereo digital mixing and recording setup to your Eurorack system in just 14HP".
With Mixer is 8HP and 32mm deep, drawing 45mA on +12V and 35mA on -12V. The Stem Ripper it attaches to is 6HP and records eight channels to a micro SD card as 16-bit or 32-bit float WAV at 44.1kHz or 48kHz, for £300. ALM also sells a 2HP Thru expander at £60, which duplicates the eight inputs to unbuffered outputs.
Price and availability
With Mixer is £299, made in England, and carries a two-year warranty. ALM lists it as sold out at the time of writing and has not given a restock date.
