In PROOF OF CONCEPT, Space Town lays out a full mini live set using just a single Dirtywave M8. Recorded as a demonstration of what’s possible with focused preparation and a stripped-back rig, the set runs longer than intended and no one’s complaining. It flows with confidence, energy, and control.
This isn’t a novelty jam. The video outlines a performable structure with enough variation, movement, and sonic range to hold down a real-world set. While the final version will incorporate a second M8 and MIDI controllers, this standalone setup is already strong enough to hit a stage.
A message for other performers
The video doubles as a direct message to hardware artists: you don’t need a table full of gear. As Space Town puts it, “Learn your stuff.” It’s a clear rejection of gear paralysis and a nod to legends like Jeff Mills, who still brings a 909 to major stages.
