The scene doesn't sleep, neither do they

This month, we're turning the lens on 6AM and WORK, the people, the principles, and the quiet relentlessness that's shaped LA techno for nearly two decades.

Over four weeks, we'll be collaborating on a daily Instagram series covering the full picture: history, mission, values, favorite live artists, staff spotlights, and the late nights most people never see. It's a look at the effort behind the parties, and the culture built by the people who show up when everyone else goes home.

We're starting where it all began, with founder Jia Wang.

Los Angeles techno group 6AM has cultivated a distinctive voice in Southern California, turning underground parties into meaningful cultural events. Rooted in techno history and values of kindness and positivity, 6AM serves an audience hungry for deeply personal sonic experiences. Founded in 2007 by DJ and music enthusiast Jia Wang, the project began as a passion-driven risk to build something out of nothing using the power of techno.

Wang's story, the double life, the rejections, the 401(k) emptied into a dream, is the foundation everything else stands on. Read the full feature to start the series.
