Push Mute brings Elektron style drum control to Ableton Push

One-tap muting comes to Push

The new device allows producers to mute individual drum pads or groups of pads with a single tap, replicating the intuitive performance workflow that has made the Analog Rytm a favorite among live performers. Push Mute works with both Ableton Live and the Push 3 in standalone mode.

Push Mute - The Ableton Push 3 Feature of My Dreams (We Built It)

Hands-on control from your hardware

Once installed in the signal chain before a drum rack, Push Mute is controlled entirely from the Push hardware. Users activate the mute mode by holding the Shift button, with options for both momentary and latched operation. Active pads appear green while muted pads are grayed out, providing clear visual feedback during performances.

The device offers several advanced features:

  • Multi-pad muting - Hold Select to queue multiple pads for simultaneous muting
  • Mute groups - Save different mute configurations to macros for instant recall
  • Full drum rack support - Works with all available pads in a drum rack, not just the visible 4x4 grid

Build dynamic performances with mute groups

The ability to save mute groups as macros opens up creative performance possibilities, allowing users to create song-like arrangements or use saved states as "kill switches" to instantly return all pads to an unmuted state. These snapshots can be quickly accessed during live performances for dynamic drum programming.

Push Mute represents a significant workflow enhancement for Push users who want more hands-on control over their drum performances, bringing a beloved feature from the hardware world into the Ableton ecosystem.

The device is now available through Isotonik Studios.
